Highly Luminescent CuI Complexes for Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cells (Adv. Mater. 10/2006)
The crystal structure of a Cu(I) complex having two nitrogen (blue) and two phosphor (yellow) coordinating atoms is depicted. This class of complexes exhibits intense green photo-and electroluminescence as well as triplet lifetimes on the microsecond timescale. These features make them attractive candidates for light-emitting devices based on cheap, abundant, and environmentally sustainable metal elements, as shown by Armaroli, Nierengarten, Wegh, and co-workers on p. 1313.
