Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are regarded as ideal candidates for the next generation of nanoelectronics. To realize CNT-based electronics, intramolecular junctions are required components, connecting different CNTs for integration, and acting as act as functional building blocks in circuits, such as rectifiers, field-effect transistors, switches, amplifiers, and photoelectrical devices. Many advances have been achieved, but some challenges also exist. The reviewby Dacheng Wei and Yunqi Li on p. 2815 discusses the synthesis, properties, and applications of intramolecular junctions of CNTs and their future applications in the field.
