The inside cover shows the Cu(II)-induced cyclic guanylation of thiourea anthraquinone, exhibiting highly exclusive selectivity towards Cu(II) over other competitive cations in fluorometric and colorimetric chemodosimetry. Jong Seung Kim, Jong Hwa Jung, and coworkers report on p. 3229 that addition of Cu2+ ion to solutions of MSIA (mesoporous silica-immobilized anthraquinone) gives an instantaneous color change along with a blue-shifted absorption band within a 1:1 stoichiometric reaction at room temperature. The selectivity of this system is potentially useful for monitoring of Cu2+ ions.
