The structural transition from a crystalline solid to its melt is central to understanding crystal nucleation and growth, but it is difficult to image directly on the atomic scale. On p. 2716, Peter Schall and co-workers use novel thermosensitive colloidal systems as models to obtain new insight into this structural transition.
