New Catalysis Concept: Enhanced Catalytic Activity of Self-Assembled-Monolayer-Capped Gold Nanoparticles (Adv. Mater. 48/2012)
An unprecedented substrate-selective catalytic enhancement effect of an alkanethiol-self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) is reported on p. 6462 by Tomoya Taguchi, Katsuhiro Isozaki, and Kazushi Miki. This new catalyst system based on weak intermolecular interactions provides a brand new concept for artificial metalloenzyme-type enhanced catalysis.
