Chemical defects in SWCNTs...

Chemical defects in SWCNTs can easily be located using a new technique reported by Y. Fan et al. in the January 16th issue. The method relies on the formation of Se nanoparticles via site-selective oxidation of H2Se, which works under soft conditions at room temperature and is able to reveal the defects even in individual tubes (see: Adv. Mater. 2002, 14, 130-133).
