Fractal growth in nanofiber networks.....

The fractal nature of a nanofibrous network was discovered by in-situ measurements on fibers of N-lauroyl-L-glutamic acid di-n-butylamide which grow in isostearyl alcohol upon cooling. Branching induced by crystallographic mismatch was identified as the nanofibers' growth mechanism (X.Y. Liu, P.D. Sawant, March 18; Adv. Mater. 2002, 14, 421-426).
