Instructions for authors

The Instructions to authors are available here as a pdf.
Please read these instructions carefully before preparing and submitting the manuscript.

Simple first submission
As of November 2016, authors are no longer required to format their manuscripts as per EJI style (reference formatting, order of sections etc) for first submission; however, authors need to ensure that their manuscripts are compatible with the article types published in EJI (see “Article types” and “General format, length and style”). Authors have the choice of submitting their original manuscripts either as separate file types per journal requirements, or as a single unformatted submission file. Supported file types for such a file are PDF and Word documents with display figures and supporting information embedded.

Clinical papers

The European Journal of Immunology (EJI) also provides a platform for clinical papers. The EJI team understands the limitations of human/clinical studies and therefore descriptive papers without a mechanism will be considered, provided that they are hypothesis-driven with a clear rationale and informative results related to the disease/immunological aspect under investigation. Along the same lines, new mouse models that have clinical potential will be considered without mechanistic insight if they are considered to be valuable tools for advancing research in the field.

Publication charges

Please send us the "Publication Charge Agreement "when submitting the final version of your accepted manuscript.

Full length articles of up to 7 typesetted pages and short communications of up to 5 typesetted pages will be published free of charge. For paper exceeding those lengths a page charge of 196 € + VAT per additional page will be levied.

Color figures can only be published if the author is prepared to pay for the extra cost incurred. At the time of submission the authors are asked to upload the figures in the format (i.e. color or black & white) that the authors wish to be in the published version, if the article is accepted for publication. They are also asked to state whether they are willing to cover the publication charges. NOTE: Changing a figure from color to black&white after acceptance is generally not permitted.
