Nanoextrusions on single crystalline Al and Al-Mg plates under constrained cyclic tension evolve to regular 2D surface rectangular grids and 3D porous rhombic grids. The cover shows AFM images of the plates along with their 3D reconstructions and associated digital Fourier transforms. More about this type of self-organization can be found in the paper by Y. G.
