Images showing the microstructure of conventional and auxetic foams produced through the traditional thermo-mechanical process and the novel chemo-mechanical process. Auxetic foams exhibit the unusual property of becoming fatter which stretched, a property which makes them superior to conventional foams in various applications ranging from smart tunable filters to vibration-proofing materials.
