John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE:JWa, JWb) announced today that Elena L. Grigorenko, the Emily Fraser Beede Professor of Developmental Disabilities (Child Study Center, the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health, and the Department of Psychology at Yale University), will be the new editor of New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development.  Dr. Grigorenko comes to the journal with decades of experience in both editing and writing for journals, having published more than 400 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and books. A recipient of the APA Distinguished Award for Early Career Contribution to Developmental Psychology and other professional awards, Dr. Grigorenko has worked with children and their families in the United States Africa, India, Saudi Arabia, and Russia. Her research has been funded by the NIH, NSF, DOE, and other federal and private sponsoring organizations. She is committed to maintaining the journal’s edginess, broad coverage of the developmental sciences, and reflection of the geographically and culturally diverse world in which children and adolescents live.  On taking on stewardship of NDCAD she says,

“I am excited to take on this new challenge and committed to maintaining the excellence of New Directions, the continued diversification of its portfolio, and the introduction of new features such as the Editorial Board and peer review.”

Professor Grigorenko has been working with Reed Larson and Lene Jensen, who have provided New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development with ten years of masterful guidance, for a smooth transition during 2014.

“For both of us, serving as editor-in-chief of NDCAD has been one of the most interesting and gratifying things we have done in our careers. We had the pleasure of enlisting outstanding editors and authors to develop deep, innovative volumes on a wide range of exciting “new directions.” We were fortunate to be handed a strong legacy from Bill Damon, and are now pleased to pass that legacy into Elena Grigorenko’s capable hands. She brings a distinguished record and broad intellectual reach to the job. Elena is attuned to an incredible array of emerging issues in the field of human development, guaranteeing that the pages of NDCAD will continue to expand in scope and scientific liveliness.”
