Deputy Editor Announcement

Pediatric Blood & Cancer is pleased to introduce Peter E. Newburger, MD as the publication’s first Deputy Editor, starting in September 2013. Dr. Newburger, the Ali and John Pierce Professor of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Vice Chair for Research in Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, was selected by a joint ASPHO/SIOP search committee chaired by Jeffrey Lipton, MD, PhD, Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.

Peter is an excellent researcher and educator, with a very strong reputation in the field. Furthermore, he has acted as a professional and hardworking member of the editorial boards of Blood, Hem/Onc Today, Current Pediatric Reviews, Current Opinion in Pediatrics, Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and the American Journal of Hematology. For the past nine years he has served as an Associate Editor for Pediatric Blood & Cancer. Dr. Newburger is well known for his work on the molecular genetics of phagocyte function and development and the biology and treatment of childhood malignancies, among other areas of interest.
