FCSRJ Emerging Scholar Award

Family Consumer Science Research Journal Emerging Scholar Award

The Emerging Scholar Award seeks to recognize an author of research published in the Family & Consumer Sciences Research Journal (FCSRJ). The purpose of the award is to recognize the young scholars whose work will contribute to and transform the field of family and consumer sciences. The focus of the award is to recognize: the first author of an outstanding article who is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to single authored articles but articles with multiple authors will be considered when the first author is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor.

The Criteria for the award are:
• All first authors of an article published in FCSRJ between January and December of a given year are eligible for consideration.

• Because a single article seldom signals emergence of scholarship, the top three contenders for the award will be invited to submit their curriculum vita (CV) to the Selection Committee.

• The topic of the article and CV should show a research plan and a direction consistent with the author’s appointment. Review of the CV will enable the Selection Committee to gather as much evidence as possible about the extent to which the young scholar is publishing his/her own line of research and appears to be an Emerging Scholar. The Selection Committee reserves the right not to bestow the award on an annual basis.

The Emerging Scholar Award will be presented by the Editor of FCSRJ during the annual conference of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS). The winner will receive a plaque and $150 in publications of their choice from Wiley Blackwell Publishing.
