The cover picture shows hela (human cervical carcinoma) cells that have been incubated with trifunctional nanospheres composed of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots, iron oxide nanoparticles, and folic acid (main picture: bright-field image; inset: fluorescence image). The nanospheres combine fluorescence, magnetism, and cell recognition properties.
