On page 3357, Wei-Tang Yao and Shu-Hong Yu outline recent advances that have demonstrated the importance of solution strategies in the determination of crystalline properties and the construction of matrices for the formation of a variety of different II-VI semiconductor and hybrid nanocomposites. In particular, a reported mixed solvent approach offers an elegant and effective alternative for tuning semiconductor electronic and optical properties, and would be a general and highly desirable method for the synthesis of these highly technologically important nanocomposites.
