On page 500, Xiaosheng Fang and co-workers demonstrate the successful development of high-performance “visible-blind” microscale ZnS nanobelt-based ultraviolet (UV) light sensors through a newly developed non-lithographic method. Such sensors may prove extremely useful for the detection of harmful near-visible-wavelength UV radiation, of particular interest in locations where the shielding effect of the Earth's atmosphere is deteriorating.
