A guest–host electro-optic material...

based on an amorphous polycarbonate (APC) and the highly active chromophore 46M has been described. It has been used to fabricate a Mach–Zehnder modulator with a low switching voltage using the push–pull poling technique. The stability of this modulator at 25 °C is excellent and its optical loss at 1300 nm is under 2 D cm–1. (S. Ermer et al., September 16, Adv. Funct. Mater. 2002, 12, 605-610)
