Variable pore sizes in porous silicon films...

Variable pore sizes in porous silicon films are obtained by an inhomogeneous electrochemical etching technique. The simultaneous separation and detection of a protein in a nanomachined silicon matrix is demonstrated. Gating of the response by adjustment of pH below and above the isoelectric point of the protein can also be achieved (Michael Sailor et al., March 18; Adv. Funct. Mater. 2002, 12, 187-191).
