Protection of gallium arsenide...

...from corrosion under physiological conditions is investigated by Seitz and co-workers using a passivation concept. Interfacial layers of polymerized organomercaptosilanes are found to provide good corrosion protection, and can be further functionalized if desired. The cultivation of normal rate kidney fibroblasts on GaAs surfaces and the performance of polymer-coated GaAs electrical devices are also examined. (April 18; Adv. Funct.
