ChemMedChem 10/2009: Tackling Tumors!

ChemMedChem 10/2009: Tackling Tumors!Cancer therapeutics in all their various forms are discussed in this issue's cluster. Six contributions describe anticancer research: from the treatment of solid tumors to leukemia, using synthetic agents, metal-containing derivatives or natural products. Lee et al. describe the structure-based design of ribonucleotide reductase inhibitors as novel antitumor agents, while Minutolo et al. detail their work on developing prodrugs active against hypoxic tumors through LOX inhibition. In this issue's Review, Jung discusses the emerging therapeutic potential of histone methyltransferase and demethylase inhibitors. These enzymes are involved in a number of cellular functions, including tumorigenesis and tumor progression, and are increasingly being considered as valid therapeutic targets in cancer research.

The clustering feature of ChemMedChem allows us to highlight important areas of research, maximizing exposure for high-impact articles and ensuring our readers get the most out of the issue. You will find the cluster keywords on the front cover of each issue, and a short description of the cluster in the Table of Contents.
