ChemMedChem Gets a New Editor

ChemMedChem Gets a New EditorWe're happy to report that with the new year comes a new Editor-in-Chief for our journal: Dr. Natalia Ortúzar. Natalia joined ChemMedChem in May of 2008, and has been a key force behind the journal's upward trajectory in the two and a half years since.

Our Founding Editor, Dr. Peter Gölitz, has been instrumental not only in setting the foundations for ChemMedChem's launch in 2006, but in ensuring the journal continued to gather momentum during its first five years of publication. Given Natalia's outstanding performance at her position, Peter has been able to confidently hand the helm over to her.

Natalia has a thorough background in medicinal chemistry research. She studied chemistry at Durham University, UK (MChem, 2002). In 2006 she earned her PhD in medicinal chemistry at the University of London, School of Pharmacy in the research group of Dr. Mark Searcey and Professor Laurence Patterson, where she developed prodrug analogues of the duocarmycins. She then carried out postdoctoral research in the group of Professor Brian Blagg at the University of Kansas in Lawrence (USA), where she worked on chimeric macrocyclic inhibitors of Hsp 90. This experience, in combination with a fresh, forward-looking approach to publishing top-level work in the various subdisciplines of medicinal chemistry, means that ChemMedChem is in excellent hands.
