Magnetic, transport and structural propertiesof Co/Ir multilayers grown by molecular beam epitaxy
The Editor's Choice of this issue reports on the properties of Co/Ir artificial ferrimagnetic multilayers, grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). These systems are of great interest as hard magnetic layers and spin valves for various potential applications in magnetic recording and sensors. The cover picture is a cross section transmission electron microscopy image of a [Co30/Ir10]10× superlattice with a period of 3.85 nm.The first author, Silviu Colis, works on materials for magnetoresistive devices in the Group for Inorganic Materials (GMI) of the Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg.
