The cover picture shows the reaction scheme for the dehydrogenation of ethane over the octahedral molecular sieve OMS-2 in the presence of carbon dioxide. This reaction is put into action by Suib et. al. in their Communication on page 441 ff., with high ethane and carbon dioxide conversions and high selectivity towards the product ethylene. The reaction pathway is shown to involve two steps: ethane catalytic dehydrogenation and a reverse watergas shift reaction. The inexpensive OMS-2 catalyst is highly stable throughout the reaction and the presence of carbon dioxide lessens coke depositions on the catalyst surface.
