Call For Papers

All manuscripts will be peer reviewed before their acceptance for publication. A general criterion of the review is whether the manuscript provides new insights and findings in the science and technology development associated with these areas. Case studies with industry problems or data that could lead to further research and/or industrial implementation are also welcome.
 

Special Issue on
Artificial Organs and Tissue Engineering: A Chemical Engineering Point of View

In the latter years, the typical knowledge of chemical engineering has found increasingly application in the biomedical field, giving very interesting results. In particular, the contribution given to the development of artificial organs (artificial kidney, artificial liver, artificial lung) and artificial tissues (bioartificial organs, cells culture, etc), seems of greet interest. In this context, the typical knowledge of chemical engineering, i.e. unit operations, transport phenomena, etc., can be of great help to provide guidelines for a rationale design of artificial and bioartificial organs.



Thus, this calls for papers special issue focus mainly on two wide topics (both review and new research):

- Artificial Organs
- Tissue Engineering

The issue is being edited by Dr. Vincenzo Piemonte (University Campus Bio-medico of Rome), Dr. Angelo Basile (Italian National Research Council – CNR - at University of Calabria) and Dr. Luisa Di Paola (University Campus Bio-medico of Rome).

We would welcome your proposal of a paper for consideration for the issue in the form of a short summary of approximately 200 words. Paper proposals should be sent via e-mail to any of the guest editors before February 28, 2013.

If your proposal is assessed as being suitable for the issue you will be contacted with details for submission of the full manuscript.
