Student Affairs Today honored at APEX Awards for Publishing Excellence

Student Affairs Today has been honored again, this time in the category of Writing Series with the APEX 2014 Award of Excellence.

APEX 2014 AwardThe winning submission was a two-article series "Raise awareness about your gun policies: Our survey reveals communication, enforcement issues" (Volume 16 Issue 4, pp. 1, 4-5) and "Follow best practices for campus gun policies: our national survey reveals frustrations over guns" (Volume 16 Issue 5, pp. 1, 4-5). Both are now available online free, in recognition of this year's achievement at APEX.

The APEX Awards for Publication Excellence is an annual competition for publishers, editors, writers and designers who create print, Web, electronic and social media. Communications Concepts, Inc. sponsors the APEX Awards, and advises professionals who write, edit and manage business communications, on best strategies and practices. Concepts publishes business communication reports, including Writer's Web Watch, an e-report for professional communicators, and special reports on topics such as corporate writing and Web publishing.

In the Twenty-sixth Annual APEX Awards, 2,075 entries were evaluated and awards were given in 122 individual categories, within 11 main categories including: newsletters; magazines, journals and tabloids; annual reports; print media; electronic media; social media; websites; campaigns, programs and plans; writing; design and illustration; and one-of-a-kind publications.

According to the APEX 2014 judges, “The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the success of the entry in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence.”

Student Affairs Today wins APEX 2011 Award for Excellence for Writing

Student Affairs Today has won recognition from peers in the publishing industry with the APEX 2011 Award of Excellence in the category Writing: Interviews and Personal Profiles.

APEX 2011, the 23rd Annual Awards for Publication Excellence, is an international competition sponsored by the editors of Writing That Works: The Business Communications Report. Since 1988, APEX Awards have recognized outstanding publications throughout the communication and publishing industry.

This year, awards were given in 130 communication categories under 11 main headings, including newsletters; magazines and journals; annual reports; brochures, Web and intranet sites; one-of-a-kind publications and more.

According to the APEX judges, “the awards were based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the success of the entry -- in the opinion of the judges -- in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence.”
