The Journal of Healthcare Risk Management was recognized by industry peers with an APEX 2011 Award of Excellence in the category of Print: Health and Medical Writing.

APEX 2011, the 23rd Annual Awards for Publication Excellence, is an international competition sponsored by the editors of Writing That Works: The Business Communications Report. Since 1988, APEX Awards have recognized outstanding publications throughout the communication and publishing industry.

This year, awards were given in 130 communication categories under 11 main headings, including newsletters; magazines and journals; annual reports; brochures, Web and intranet sites; one-of-a-kind publications and more.

According to the APEX judges, “the awards were based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the success of the entry -- in the opinion of the judges -- in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence.”

The Journal of Healthcare Risk Management , published on behalf of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, was recognized for excellence in health and medical writing in the 2012 APEX Awards of Excellence.

Please join us in congratulating Dawn Cushman on winning the annual Journal of Healthcare Risk Management Author Excellence Award for her article “When Disaster Hits Where Does the Standard of Care Go?” which appeared in Volume 31, Number 2 of the Journal of Healthcare Risk Management.

The Journal of Healthcare Risk Management Author Excellence Award, selected the Editorial Review Board, is granted for an article that is well-written, supportive of research in risk management and patient safety, supports the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management’s vision to be a global thought leader and creates new knowledge that advances the risk management and patient safety discipline.
