Journal of Healthcare Risk Management Honored at APEX 2014 Awards for Excellence
The Journal of Healthcare Risk Management, published on behalf of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, was recognized for publishing excellence in the category of Regular Departments and Columns in the 2014 APEX Awards of Excellence. Volume 33. Issue 1 of the Journal also received an Award of Excellence in the print category of Magazines, Journals & Tabloids.
The APEX Awards for Publication Excellence is an annual competition for publishers, editors, writers and designers who create print, Web, electronic and social media. Communications Concepts, Inc. sponsors the APEX Awards, and advises professionals who write, edit and manage business communications, on best strategies and practices. Concepts publishes business communication reports, including Writer's Web Watch, an e-report for professional communicators, and special reports on topics such as corporate writing and Web publishing.
In the Twenty-sixth Annual APEX Awards, 2,075 entries were evaluated and awards were given in 122 individual categories, within 11 main categories including: newsletters; magazines, journals and tabloids; annual reports; print media; electronic media; social media; websites; campaigns, programs and plans; writing; design and illustration; and one-of-a-kind publications.
According to the APEX 2014 judges, “The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the success of the entry in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence.”

Please join us in congratulating Dawn Cushman on winning the annual Journal of Healthcare Risk Management Author Excellence Award for her article “When Disaster Hits Where Does the Standard of Care Go?” which appeared in Volume 31, Number 2 of the Journal of Healthcare Risk Management.
