The only national research institute for psychology in China, the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPCAS) is home to more than one hundred full-time researchers working in diverse areas that range from developmental, educational, and cognitive psychology to issues in mental health, social and economic behavior, and crisis intervention, as well as behavioral genetics.
Charged with improving the wellbeing and mental health of the Chinese people, the Institute takes as its broader mission the pursuit of excellence in research and the achievement of breakthroughs in frontier areas of psychology. Active exchange programs are also maintained with major institutions in Europe and America as part of an attempt to create a "knowledge bridge" between China and the World through sharing scientific knowledge in the discipline of psychology.
