The Association of Applied Biologists is a registered charity (No. 275655), that was founded in 1904.
The Association's overall aim is: 'To promote the study and advancement of all branches of Biology and in particular (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing), to foster the practice, growth and development of applied biology, including the application of biological sciences for the production and preservation of food, fibre and other materials and for the maintenance and improvement of earth's physical environment'.

Authors who are individual members of the Association of Applied Biologists are eligible to publish in Food and Energy Security for a reduced rate of £500 per paper. To qualify for the society member discount the corresponding author must be a member in good standing and must obtain further discount information through the society website.
