StatBlog now Launched!
Stat is the ISI’s journal for rapid dissemination of Statistics research results. A key feature of Stat is speed to publication: there is a single pass, high quality review process that aims to publish acceptable articles within 30 days of submission. There is no revision cycle.
In traditional publication processes, reviewers’ comments are provided anonymously to authors, and little or nothing more is heard about them by people outside the reviewing system. In contrast, Stat will provide reviewers to post their reports on StatBlog for articles accepted for publication, should the reviewers so wish. Such postings will have to be accompanied by the names of the reviewers. Authors will be advised whether this will occur, when notified of acceptance, and will be able to post replies. Anyone will then be free to post comments to continue the discussion, or to provide other commentary on the articles. These comments may include: proposing or developing extensions of methodological work; critiques or alternative points of view; or advertisements for related work. Authors are encouraged to be attentive to these comments and will be notified via email when a comment regarding their article is posted.
Comments are expected to be courteous and constructive and will be moderated by a team of associate editors (AEs). AEs will not post comments that are deemed irrelevant or otherwise inappropriate. AEs can choose comments to be selected as `highlighted’ and invite longer discussions from their authors to be featured on the StatBlog. AEs will also author posts about recent Stat content or statistics in general.
