Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation
File Type and Format
Manuscripts should be submitted through the ScholarOne site here: Manuscripts must be in Word document format, or LaTex file accompanied by a PDF. (For LaTex files: If a separate bibliography file or a common bibliographic package such as bibtex, bibtex + natbib, or biblatex is being used, please make sure to submit these addtional files.) They should be double-spaced (including quotations, notes, and references), and the right margin should not be justified. The manuscript should be marked as either philosophy of logic, philosophy of maths, philosophy of mind, epistemology, philosophy of language, value theory or metaphysics. Where a paper overlaps these areas, the author should choose the one they feel is most prominent. Articles should not exceed 4500 words, including footnotes.

To facilitate our anonymous review process, the author should not be identified in the manuscript or the abstract.

Papers should include an abstract of no more than 200 words.

Opt-in “No revisions” policy
When submitting, authors have the opportunity to designate their submission as a “no revisions” paper; this allows the manuscript to be processed faster. Authors should indicate if they would like to opt in to this option.

If a paper includes figures or artwork, authors must submit these files with the final draft.

Footnotes are preferred to endnotes and should be kept to a minimum, with citations in the text.

If your paper is accepted, the author identified as the formal corresponding author for the paper will receive an email prompting them to login into Author Services; where via the Wiley Author Licensing Service (WALS) they will be able to complete the license agreement on behalf of all authors on the paper.

In general, Thought is prepared to publish replies to interesting papers, regardless of whether the original paper appeared in Thought or somewhere else. But authors should note that we set an especially high threshold for acceptance in such cases; and we are unlikely to accept a reply, irrespective of its internal merit, that in the judgement of the editors promises to be of interest to significantly fewer of our readers than the original paper.
