Zinc chloride anhydrous has been used as an efficient and new catalyst for conversion of ketones and aldehydes to corresponding gem-dihydroperoxides by aqueous hydrogen peroxide (30%) in room temperature with excellent yields and notable reaction times.

  2. Ultrasound Assisted Emulsification Microextraction Based on dimetyl (E)-2-[(Z)-1-acetyl)-2-hydroxy-1-propenyl]-2-butenedioate for Determination of Total Amount of Iron in Water and Tea Samples (pages 659–666)

    Gholamreza Khayatian and Shahed Hassanpoor

Article first published online: 2 MAY 2012 | DOI: 10.1002/jccs.201100447

An ultrasound assisted emulsification microextraction (USAEME) is successfully used for extraction and determination of trace amount of iron in water and tea samples, followed by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS). The linear range of the method is sufficient for the determination of iron in some environmental samples and was successfully used in the determination of total iron in river waters, tap waters and tea samples.

  3. Syntheses of Amino Group-Substituted N-Confused Porphyrins (pages 633–640)

The Pd-catalyzed coupling reaction of 4-ethynylaniline with the 2-bromo NCTPP and a subsequent demetalation reaction obtained para-ethynyl aniline substitution on the outer carbon of the inverted pyrrole ring on NCTPP while the tetrakis(4-aminophenyl) N-confused porphyrin was synthesized from the standard SnCl2 reduction on p-nitrophenyl substituted NCTPP.
