  1. Metal-Free Ionic-Liquid-Mediated Synthesis of Benzimidazoles and Quinazolin-4(3H)-ones from Benzylamines

Rohit Sharma, Mohd. Abdullaha and Dr. Sandip B. Bharate

Version of Record online: 27 JUN 2017 | DOI: 10.1002/ajoc.201700214

One environment for THE environment: An expedient metal-free synthetic protocol for the construction of benzimidazoles has been developed from o-phenylenediamine and benzylamine, using an imidazolium-based ionic liquid as the reaction medium. The method is operationally simple and the reaction medium can be recycled several times without significant loss of catalytic activity.

  2. Variation of para Substituent on 2-Phenol of Tetraaryl-Substituted Imidazole-Boron Difluoride Complexes: Synthesis, Characterization, and Photophysical Properties

Vanga Mukundam, Kunchala Dhanunjayarao, Sanket Samal and Krishnan Venkatasubbaiah

Version of Record online: 26 JUN 2017 | DOI: 10.1002/ajoc.201700234

Blue state: Five imidazole-based boron complexes were synthesized and extensively characterized. These boron complexes are a deep blue color in solution as well as in the solid state. Morphological changes in these compounds were analyzed by powder XRD to reveal the origin of the dual emission that was observed in the fluorescence spectra.

  3. Indium(III) Chloride Promoted One-Pot Multicomponent Synthesis of 1,2,4-Triazole Carrying 1,2,4-Triazin-6-ones from Nitrilimines and N,N'-Bis(trimethylsilyl)carbodiimine

Fung Fuh Wong, Shuo-En Tsai, Wan-Ping Yen, Yi-Ting Li, Yu-Tzu Hu and Ching-Chun Tseng

  5. Asymmetric Synthesis of Functionalized Nitrophenols via a Copper(II)-Mediated Bromination/Debromination Aromatization Sequence

Xue-Li Liu, Xiao-Long Zhang, Yan-Jun Guo, Chen-Hong Meng, Dr. Ai-Bao Xia and Prof. Dr. Dan-Qian Xu

Br IN, Br OUT! A stereospecific copper(II)-mediated bromination/debromination aromatization sequence leading to functionalized nitrophenols from corresponding γ-nitroketones is described. It provided a simple methodology for the construction of nitrophenols in moderate to good yields and moderate to high enantioselectivities.
