Applied Psychology: An International Review seeks to publish work that develops, tests, or advances applied psychology theory, research, and practice. Articles should have well-articulated and strong theoretical foundations. Topics appropriate for Applied Psychology include organizational behavior, leadership, cross-cultural psychology, work motivation, psychological assessment and evaluation, performance measurement, training, job attitudes, career development, negotiation and conflict resolution, work stress, organizational design and intervention, consumer behavior, national development, group, environmental, educational, economic, political, developmental, health, sport, and traffic psychology. All of the articles published in the journal are reviewed. They are evaluated according to the following criteria: (a) significance of contribution, (b) adequacy of research method, (c) appropriateness, and (d) clarity of presentation. Particularly invited are article that advance our understanding of applied phenomena across different national and cultural contexts that stimulate debate and discussion.
Applied Psychology: an International Review has an impact factor of 1.984 (2-year) and 2.645 (5-year, 2014 Journal Citation Reports (r). Thomson Reuters, 2015). It is ranked '3' on the UK Chartered Association of Business Schools Academic Journal Guide 2015 (ABS List), 'A' on the Australian Business Dean's Councul Journal Quality List 2013 (ABDC list) and 'B' on the German VHB-JOUQUAL 3.All papers published in Applied Psychology: An International Review are eligible for Panel A: Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience in the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
We publish several types of articles, all of which should be prepared according to the manuscript guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual, 6th Edition.
1. Original journal articles focus on one of the topic areas described above and either explicate important research findings or present conceptual frameworks. Journal articles should be submitted as ‘original article’. They normally do not exceed 30 to 35 manuscript pages all inclusive (APA guidelines). We consider longer articles, if they present multiple studies or meta-analyses.
2.Lead articles. The following topics are invited as lead articles: succinct presentations of lines of research; controversial debates between theories; debates on general issues of interest to applied psychologists, which cut across different areas; presentations of theory and results of a 'hot topic'; or presentations or theory and results in an area that is under-researched. Lead articles may be up to 45 pages long (all inclusive and following the APA guidelines). After peer revision, the lead article will be given to several prominent commentators from around the world who will write open peer commentaries, six to seven pages in length (following APA guidelines). The lead article author may then reply, in a rejoinder up to 5 pages long.
3. Review articles synthesize the literature in a given field or research on a particular theory, methodology or phenomenon. They take stock of what is known, highlight gaps and areas for future research. Impactful review articles often synthesize the literature by way of offering a framework or may outline a conceptual framework for future research. We consider both systematic and narrative reviews. Meta-analyses will often be more similar to long original articles.
4. International Replication Notes. They consist of replications of findings of known phenomena reported in the literature within cultural or national contexts that have not been studied before. Replication notes are typically up to 10 pages long (all inclusive, APA guidelines). We may consider longer replication notes especially if they provide novel insight on the phenomenon studied, for example, derived from the new context in which it was studied.
5. Special Issues are composed by guest editors who invite contributions with a particular thematic or regional focus for the whole issue. To propose a special issue, please download and follow our guidelines . We consider special issues on an ongoing basis. Each special issue proposal is evaluated by two members of the editorial team, who will provide developmental feedback to the proposal authors.

File formats should be MS Word or WordPerfect and must be PC compatible. If using other packages, the files should be saved as Rich Text Format or Text Only. Manuscripts should not ordinarily exceed 30 to 35 double-spaced pages (see above for article types). Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the format prescribed by the American Psychological Association (APA Publication Manual). For details see the Publication Manual of the APA.
Anonymous reviews: All manuscripts will be refereed anonymously.To ensure the double-blind review process, authors need to remove all author identifying information from the paper and should remove any versions of the manuscript from publicly accessible websites.
Title: The title should be concise and should be supplied on a separate sheet together with the author's name(s), title, current address, telephone and fax numbers and email address. A short title of no more than 40 characters (including spaces) should also be supplied.
Abstract: The title must be included again, on the same page and immediately before the abstract. An abstract of 50-200 words in English should precede the article.
Headings: There should be no more than three (clearly marked) levels of subheadings used in the text of the article.
Acknowledgements: These should be supplied, as briefly as possible, on a separate page.
Statistics:Results of statistical tests should be given in the following form: F(1,9) = 23.35, P
Keywords: All articles should contain keywords. No more than 10 keywords should be submitted. Keywords should cover the following:
· 3-5 descriptive / substantive keywords
· 1-3 outlining the areas of applied psychology to which the results apply
· 1-3 country/ies in which the data has been collected
References: The APA style of referencing is used (author's name and date of publication bracketed in the text) and all works cited should be listed alphabetically alphabetically by author after the main body of the text, to the journal style as follows:

Tables and artwork: All tables and artwork should be supplied on separate sheets, not included within the text, but have their intended position clearly indicated in the manuscript. Figures should be supplied as high quality, original artwork and any lettering or line work should be able to sustain reduction to the final size of reproduction. Tints or complex shading should be avoided and color should not be used. Figures supplied on disk must be accompanied by a hard copy and should be originated in a drawing package and saved as an EPS file.
