1. Social Development publishes regular (i.e., empirical) articles, topic reviews, and a number of different “Special Features” (e.g., debates, future directions, special sections called “Quartets”). Ideas for Special Features should be sent to Ms. Jenny Troyano - email@example.com, Editorial Administrator, who will then distribute the idea to the Editorial Triumvirate. Please refer to back issues for examples of previous Special Features published in the journal.
2. All manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout, using a conventional size of paper, and prepared in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition) for all aspects of manuscript preparation. In order to facilitate blind reviewing it is the author's responsibility to eliminate any identifying information from pages other than the title page. On this page please give under your name the institution with which you are connected; also include your full mailing address in the footnote.
3. All submissions to Social Development must report original work and may not exceed 8,500 words including all text, tables, references, endnotes, footnotes and appendices, except by special request which must include compelling justification prior to submission. Manuscripts that exceed 8,500 words will be returned to authors without review. Please include a cover letter which is in accordance with the guidelines established in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition).
4. References should follow the style indicated in the most recent edition of the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association.There are several software packages available to help authors manage and format the references and footnotes in their journal article. We recommend the use of a software tool such as EndNote or Reference Manager for reference management and formatting.

5. A condition of review for publication in this journal is that work has been conducted in accordance with guidelines on the ethics of research such as those published by the American Psychological Association or the British Psychological Society.
6. Manuscripts are assigned to the Editors in random order. If you wish to have a specific Editor serve as the Acting Editor for your manuscript, please state in your cover letter who you are requesting and the reason for your request. General queries, Quartet and Debate proposals, and specific queries regarding manuscript fit should be sent to Ms. Jenny Troyano - firstname.lastname@example.org who will distribute them to the appropriate Editor or Editors.
7. English Language Editing Service: Please ensure your paper is clearly written in standard, scientific English language. Visit our site to learn about one option. Please note that using the Wiley English Language Editing Service does not in any way guarantee that your paper will be accepted by this journal. It is one way, however, to make sure that your paper will be seen in the best light by reviewers.
8. If your paper is accepted, the author identified as the formal corresponding author for the paper will receive an email prompting them to login into Author Services; where via the Wiley Author Licensing Service (WALS) they will be able to complete the license agreement on behalf of all authors on the paper.
