Education and the 'Problem' of Religion: A Special Virtual Issue

Edited by Anna Strhan

The aim of this collection is to bring together papers from the journal’s archives to show the different ways in which philosophers of education have reflected upon and sought to clarify the relationship between the rights of religious groups, parents, children, and the state. The papers here show not only diverse understandings of the meaning of ‘religion’, but also that the questions raised about religion within the field of education relate to ideas at the heart of educational theory about the aims of education, the relation between state and individual in a liberal democracy, and the nature of knowledge.
