Overview

The Manchester School was first published more than seventy years ago and has become a distinguished, internationally recognised, general economics journal. The Manchester School publishes high-quality research covering all areas of the economics discipline, although the editors particularly encourage original contributions, or authoritative surveys, in the fields of microeconomics (including industrial organisation and game theory), macroeconomics, econometrics (both theory and applied) and labour economics.

Aims and Scope

The Manchester School publishes high-quality research covering all areas of the economics discipline, although the editors particularly encourage original contributions, or authoritative surveys, in the fields of microeconomics (including industrial organisation and game theory), macroeconomics, econometrics (both theory and applied) and labour economics.

Consistent with the strategic aim of enhancing the international standing of the journal to a general economics readership, we will only consider publishing manuscripts that make a significant contribution from either a theoretical or empirical perspective, in terms of originality, rigour and reach. In particular, we do not wish to publish manuscripts which replicate existing results and/or are limited in scope/applicability and thus more suitable to regional and/or specialised field journals

Special Issues

Each volume includes a special issue with a particular theme:

In addition, each volume will continue to include an annual supplement of papers reflecting the proceedings of the Money, Macro and Finance (MMF) Research Group. This Research Group is the main forum for debate on macroeconomic, monetary and financial issues in the UK. The conference proceedings reflect the full flavour of the group's interests in theoretical, applied, and policy-oriented research in these areas. Previous keynote speakers whose papers appear in the Proceedings include Robert Shiller and Frederic Miskin, John Taylor and Andrew Crockett, Sir Alan Budd and Professor Michael Woodford.
