Virtual Issue: Nuclear Weapons
The Global Approach to Nuclear Weapons
The role and control of nuclear weapons have been among the core concerns of International Affairs for many decades. In May 2010, a month long conference was held with delegates from 188 nations discussing a possible strengthening of the 1970 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) —the cornerstone of global efforts to control the spread of nuclear weapons. In that vein, International Affairs has compiled this virtual issue which traces through a selection of articles from 1968 to 2010 the NPT’s history and its place in the international nuclear system.
