The British Academy of Management represents the interests of management research to the Economic and Social Research Council and other bodies with involvement in management education and research.  The Academy continues to advance the cause of management research and to press for increased funding for this purpose.  It also encourages greater collaboration between academic and commercial organisations in pursuit of higher quality research and greater use of the findings in improving British management.

The British Academy of Management was founded in 1986 with the following aims:

  • To support vigorous, relevant, ethical, and independent research in business and management
  • To promote ethical and reflective business and management education
  • To provide a prominent voice for the BAM community
  • To showcase business and management scholarship within the national and international arena
  • To develop alliances and networks with stakeholders including Business Schools, employers, practitioner communities, and learned societies

Membership of the British Academy of Management is open to all who have a direct interest or involvement in management research and although its membership is primarily drawn from academics, others with similar interests are welcome. The membership fee includes subscription to the British Journal of Management and the International Journal of Management Reviews.
