Virtual Issue Myopia: its prevalence, origins and control
This virtual issue collates recently published papers in Ophthalmic & Physiological Optics that relate to the prevalence, origins and control of myopia. These include papers that shed light on the important question of whether peripheral hyperopia, possibly as a result of a more prolate eyeball shape, might trigger excessive compensatory growth in the posterior part of the eye and make the eye myopic (or more opic), even if on axis the eye was initially emmetropic (or appropriately corrected).
