Description: A non-secret, democratic, international society of scholars dedicated to the ideal of Anthropon Katamanthanein Diakonesein, or 'to investigate humanity for the purpose of service'.
Purpose: To promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement of the human condition.
Eligibility: Undergraduates - must be sociology majors or demonstrate a serious interest in sociology within an official program of the host institution; must be at least a junior (third year); overall GPA of at least 3.00 and rank in top 35% of class; sociology GPA of at least 3.00; at least four regular courses in sociology. Graduate Students are eligible. Election to Alpha Kappa Delta is without regard to race, creed, or national origin.
