Founded in 1884, SDC is the world’s leading independent, educational charity dedicated to ‘educating the changing world in the science of colour’. We are a global organisation with worldwide membership. With our Head Office in Bradford, UK, we have an international network of regions and activities. In India we have an office in Mumbai and regions in Hong Kong, Pakistan and China. Our events, activities and training extend worldwide.
SDC became a registered educational charity in 1962. SDC was granted a Royal Charter in 1963 and is the only organisation in the world that can award the Chartered Colourist status, which remains the pinnacle of achievement for coloration professionals.
SDC provides education in many different forms to many different end users. Coloration Technology is SDC’s flagship journal providing access to the latest coloration research globally.
SDC also publishes many classic text books on coloration, with regular new titles available in the SDC/Wiley series. Recent titles include:
• The Coloration of Wool and other Keratin Fibres (Editors: David M Lewis and John A Rippon)
• Physico-Chemical Aspects of Textile Coloration (Author: S M Burkinshaw)
• Standard Colorimetry: Definitions, Algorithms and Software (Authors: Claudio Oleari and Gabriele Simone)
