Publication in the JMG is a measure of the quality of the work of the authors and their home institutions. JMG utilises the peer-review approach that is a fundamental tenet of the scientific method. It is therefore important to document the expected ethical behaviour for authors, editors and reviewers associated with the journal. The JMG embodies the basic principles of the publishing process as documented by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). However, their guidelines are geared largely to some quite different issues facing publication in the medical literature, and are not always appropriate or relevant to the JMG. Thus, although the basic ethical issues of publishing in the JMG are in line with the COPE guidelines, the JMG is not bound by their defined processes.
This Publication Pack provides details of the manner in which manuscripts should be submitted to the JMG, how they will be processed by the Journal and what is expected of authors, editors and reviewers. Under the review process link below, details are also given of how the review process has operated over the past three years.
