Aboriginal Geographies

Comment from the Editor

The Canadian Geographer – Le Géographe canadien is at the forefront of Aboriginal and First Nations research in geography. As a new editor, this was not clear to me until I began scanning recent and past issues and realized that Canadian geographers are making an ongoing and striking contribution in this area. In this virtual (and free) issue, I have compiled a cross-section of articles on Aboriginal people and research in Canada that are at the forefront of geographical research into topics relevant to Aboriginal Canadian communities. Issues vary from historical re-examinations to health to sea ice to land claims to participatory research. Across this vast range of topics and ideas, we see the unique contribution of geographers to the academic literature on the Canadian Aboriginal experience.
