The Society for Marine Mammalogy has as its objectives:
Evaluate and promote the educational, scientific and managerial advancement of marine mammal science.
Gather and disseminate to members of the Society, the public and public and private institutions, scientific, technical and management information through publications and meetings.
Provide scientific information, as required, on matters related to the conservation and management of marine mammal resources.
All members receive the journal Marine Mammal Science and the Society’s Newsletter. Both are published quarterly (the newsletter electronically). Members also receive the Society’s Membership Directory, published biennially. Except as noted, membership includes the right to vote in Society elections, to run for elective office, to serve on standing and ad hoc Society committees, and to participate, at the member’s registration fee rate, in the Society’s Biennial Conferences on the Biology of Marine Mammals. All dues are payable in US currency.
