Aims and Scope

Parliamentary History provides a forum for current research and general interest articles covering the history of parliamentary institutions in the British Isles (including the Scottish and Irish Parliaments) from the Middle Ages to the Twentieth Century. The journal also encompasses legislatures of British colonies before independence, their origin, development and historical importance.

The Parliamentary History: Texts & Studies series draws upon the interests and research of recent and established scholars to explore the parliamentary histories of England, Scotland and Ireland, broadly defined, and the changing nature of British political culture. The series seeks to make parliamentary history more accessible to a wider, international audience and will publish significant monographs on political/parliamentary subjects, as well as carefully edited and fully noted volumes of primary-source documents.
