New Editor in 2017

The Governing Council and Publications Committee are pleased to announce the appointment of Judith G. Smetana as Incoming Editor of Child Development Perspectives. Her term will begin in January 2018 and continue through December 2024.

Dr. Smetana received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Cruz and is Professor of Psychology, the Director of the Developmental Psychology Ph.D. program, and previous Frederika Warner Chair of Human Development at the University of Rochester. Her extensive editorial experience includes two terms as Associate Editor of Child Development (1998-2001 and 2001-2004) and membership on the Editorial Boards of Child Development, Child Developmental Perspectives, Developmental Psychology, Human Development, Journal of Adolescent Research, Parenting: Science and Practice, and Social Development.

Dr. Smetana will begin receiving manuscripts for review on July 1, 2017.

Change in Editorial Policy

Child Development Perspectives (CDP) emphasizes brief, well synthesized reviews of research, typically focusing on emerging lines of inquiry in developmental science. Most articles appearing in CDP are commissioned by editorial staff, but authors who wish to submit may submit full papers (rather than abbreviated proposals) for consideration to CDP.
