Introduction:

Increasing attention is being paid to the role of nutrition in disease prevention and management, especially in the face of the global epidemic of cardiometabolic diseases. The entire age spectrum is at risk, and there is increased recognition that risk for obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus can be imparted in utero. The articles in this issue range from basic nutritional science to behaviors that have an impact on well-being across the age span.
