Virtual Issue: Policing, Public Safety and Security

Editors’ Introduction
To consolidate and extend the publication of Canadian Public Administration’s theme issue on Policing, Public Safety and Security (Vol. 55, No. 3), the Editor and Guest Editor are pleased to launch a feature that harnesses some of the resources available to us through our partnership with Wiley. We are delighted to present the 2012 theme issue and wish to provide our readers with a vehicle for accessing the full range of articles on this theme that have appeared in previous issues of Canadian Public Administration. As a result, Wiley Online has made available (until January 1, 2013) a free virtual issue that provides this retrospective look at earlier journal articles on topics relevant to policing in Canada. This virtual issue is a kind of archaeological exploration that will demonstrate that policing topics have been a quiet, but constant, concern in the pages of the journal. We are pleased to be able to consolidate them in this manner, not only to illustrate the evolution of contributors’ specific interests, but also to encourage further reflection on this area of public administration. Viewed in this context, the articles reproduced in this virtual issue remind us that policing is an area of abiding interest for academics and practitioners in the realm of public administration and reward us with a somewhat kaleidoscopic lens on the challenges and changes occurring within the world of policing.
