Welcome to our newsletter, in the run up to the 13th Congress of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB). Below you will find our most relevant books and journals based around the themes from this year’s ESEB Congress, including evolutionary ecological genomics, climate change and evolution, and experimental evolution across the microbe/macrobe divide. Please follow the links for further information on our books and journals in this area and for free sample issues of all our Ecology, Conservation and Evolution journals.
Don’t forget to visit the Wiley-Blackwell stand at ESEB, booth number 5. We also have an ESEB Membership desk, where you can update your ESEB Membership details.
Journals
Meet the Journal Editors at ESEB
Wiley-Blackwell would like to invite you to meet the editors of some of the leading journals in the field of Evolutionary Biology. This free session will give advice about the publishing process for early career scientists with the opportunity for questions from the floor.
When? Tuesday, 23rd August, 5:30–6:30pm
Where? Lecture Theater N1
We look forward to meeting you there. Free beer upon arrival!
Ask at the Wiley-Blackwell stand for more information
Ecology and Evolution is Open for Submissions
Ecology and Evolution is the peer-reviewed journal for rapid dissemination of research in all areas of ecology, evolution and conservation science. The journal gives priority to quality research reports, theoretical or empirical, that develop our understanding of organisms and their diversity, interactions between them, and the natural environment.

Meet Allen Moore and find out more about Ecology and Evolution:
When? Sunday 21st August, 5.30 - 7.30pm
Where? Wiley-Blackwell booth 5
Evolutionary Applications to Climate Change
New Virtual Issue synthesising applied evolutionary biology papers on the theme of climate change. Read it for free online.
Pollinator-mediated selection and floral evolution
The October 2010 issue of New Phytologist contains a special feature, based partly on a European Society for Evolutionary Biology symposium held in Turin in August 2009, that gathers together studies aimed at advancing our evolutionary understanding of pollination and setting a framework for future work.
Read the collection of papers online.
Virtual Issue: Forests and Global Change
This virtual issue ties in with the 2011 BES Annual Symposium taking place later this year, which will address emerging themes in forest ecology based on new data from spatially dispersed permanent plot networks, fully mapped stands and satellite imagery. Read it for free online.
BioEssays Special Collection: Funding Perspectives
With the great and sometimes confusing variety of funding options it may be difficult for scientists to find the right funding source for their research, and know which – sometimes unstated – criteria apply. This special collection focuses on presenting different funding agencies, from the European Research Council to the Human Frontier Science Program.

Virtual Issue - The Evolutionary Ecology of Mutualisms
This virtual issue of Functional Ecology gathers 17 recent Functional Ecology papers that address the evolutionary ecology of mutualisms. The compilation is in part intended to coincide with two symposia (“Mutualistic Interactions: Causes and Consequences” and “Coevolution across the Parasitism-Mutualism Continuum”) at the 13th Congress of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology in 2011.
