Journal of Fish Biology is an internationally leading source of ichthyology research. We address all aspects of fish biology, their exploitation and their importance to human society.
Our journal is recognised as among the 100 most influential journals in Biology and Medicine. Join us in advancing our collective understanding of all aquatic ecosystems, biology, ecology, and more. We are proud to be the official journal of the Fisheries Society of the British Isles.
Special Issue - Call For Papers
Journal of Fish Biology has an exciting schedule of Special Issues and invites original and novel manuscripts related to the scope of each individual call.
Enhanced media options
Journal of Fish Biology is delighted to be able to accept embedded videos and graphical abstracts as part of manuscript submission. Wiley Editing Services can provide expert help with graphical abstract design as well as English Language Editing, figure illustration and more. Please refer to the author guidelines for full details.
Online Publication from 2025
Journal of Fish Biology will be published in online-only format effective with the 2025 volume. This is a proactive move towards reducing the environmental impact caused by the production and distribution of printed journal copies and will allow the journal to invest in further innovation, digital development, and sustainability measures.
Free Format submission
We are pleased to announce that Journal of Fish Biology now offers Free Format submission for a simplified and streamlined submission process. Visit our author guidelines to find out more.
